Describe what the pump actually does
A pump that is completely silent is a different request from one that hums, runs loudly, leaks, or turns on without moving water. Write down the behavior, when it began, and whether the pool is currently circulating. If an error appears on a display, record the exact text or code.
The brand and model can also help a technician prepare, but they are optional. Do not remove electrical covers to find them.
Why the answer depends on an inspection
A repair may make sense for one fault; replacement may be more sensible for another. Condition, parts availability, and the rest of the circulation system all matter. A technician should identify the cause and explain the available options before you decide.
A circulation symptom does not always mean the pump itself has failed. Filters, valves, air in the system, or controls can affect flow. That is why describing the symptom is more useful than selecting a part to replace.
Questions to ask a provider
Ask what they found, what repair and replacement options exist, what each option includes, and whether other parts of the system need attention. Confirm any scope, warranty, and scheduling directly with the independent provider.
Pool pumps involve electricity and water. Leave wiring, motor, and pressurized equipment work to qualified professionals.
Tell us the symptom and your location. We can use that information to consider an appropriate independent local provider. Availability is not guaranteed.
